The Secret Life of Buh, buh, buh BEES!!

Yesterday I visited an illegal bee keeping ring! Yes, the keeping of bees is illegal in New York and Brooklyn, though that might change. These rebel bee nuts raise bees on roof tops, flaunting the law in order to get some of that sweet sweet honey and also help pollinate my garden. Bee populations are mysteriously shrinking, rapidly. So, I’m a big supporter.

First: You smoke the bees.

Then we looked for the queen. I was helpful.

Here’s how the conversation went-
ME: Is that the queen?
BEEKEEPER: No, that’s a drone.
ME: What about that one?
BEEKEEPER: No, that’s a drone.
ME: OO! There she…
BEEKEEPER: No. Drone.

Afterward, we got some honeycomb, which didn’t have honey yet, but I put it in my mouth anyways because I’m a two year old.
